Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Inc. Moving to "The Platform"

Introducing “The Platform”---an innovative workplace in the West Wing of City Market that will help small organizations that focus on quality of life issues save money, share ideas, and be more productive. “The Platform,” an integrated workspace, will open this month as home to several small organizations including Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Inc.

Kären Haley, executive director of Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Inc., can see the potential in such a space. “Being part of such a collaborative space and working environment is a natural fit as we start to activate the trail with programming and events, making it one of the great public spaces in our city,” Haley said. “We’re excited to move in this fall and for daily interaction with dynamic individuals and organizations that will undoubtedly occur in such an engaging space.”

YMCA Members Embrace the Trail

Members of the Downtown YMCA embrace the Cultural Trail by using it as a part of their normal exercise routine. Y member Jenn Taylor is able to utilize the trail as a part of her work out by using the Child Watch Program at the Y at the Anthenaeum. "I am able to hit the Cultural Trail for a run knowing my kids are in a fun and safe environment," Taylor said.

The YMCA at the Athenaeum offers an enriching, high quality playtime through the Child Watch Program. Children from 6 weeks to12 years of age can come and play while their parents exercise at the Y or on the Cultural Trail. It is a free service available to all Y members.

The Downtown YMCA at the Athenaeum is located at 401 East Michigan Street
in the Mass Ave Cultural District in Downtown Indianapolis adjacent to the Cultural Trail. Call (317) 685-9705 or go to www.indymca.org/athenaeum for more details.

Do you have a story about how you or your organization is embracing the trail? Tell us about it! Send your story and an image to MTRoss@IndyCulturalTrail.org and we may use it in a future Trail Talk or on the web.

Indiana's Nicest Day---This Sat., Sept. 8th

Did you know that in addition to being known as "Indiana's Nicest Day," the Penrod Arts Fair is also one of the nation's largest single day art fairs? Plan to join the fun and buy some art at the 46th Annual Penrod Arts Fair this Saturday, September 8th from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

You can use the Cultural Trail and the greenway system to ride your bike to the fair, which is held on the lovely grounds of the Indianapolis Museum of Art (IMA). Take the Cultural Trail over to White River State Park. Take the White River Wapahani Path along the river to the Central Canal Towpath. The towpath takes you right to the backdoor of the IMA's 100 Acres art park. Cross the bridge over the canal into the IMA's grounds. Head to the museum's main entrance to use their bike racks and enter the fair.

For information about Penrod and to buy tickets, click here.
