Support Fountain Square area during construction

Support Fountain Square area during construction

For a variety of logistical reasons, most of the construction on the Southeast Corridor has shifted from the north end at Pennsylvania and Washington streets to the south end between the interstate and Prospect St.

Parking temporarily eliminated
Parking has been eliminated on both sides of Virginia Ave. from Leonard St. (near interstate) to Prospect St.
Parking is STILL available on the east side of Virginia Ave. from Woodlawn Ave. to Prospect St. (opposite side of trail)

Where to park?  Use this map to find convenient parking spaces in the Fountain Square area.

Schedule
Anticipated completion of this area is July (weather permitting).

Traffic changes
Traffic remains two-way and has shifted east (away from trail construction).

Other construction
Construction will continue at Washington and Pennsylvania streets and under the Virginia Ave. garage.

Support local businesses during construction
The best thing you can do during construction is to support the local merchants in this area.  Plan your breakfast, lunch or dinner meetings at any of the great locally-owned restaurants. Find a unique gift at one of the artist studios or various shops.
Whether you are a regular or a new customer, make a point to frequent these great local merchants. For more information visit www.DiscoverFountainSquare.com or click here for monthly construction specials.

Other construction updates

The construction contract bid through INDOT on March 9, 2011. Construction will begin approximately 30 to 45 days later.

Anticipated completion dates:
-- Indiana Ave. to New York St. -- complete by August 15 (hardscape only);

Maintenance of Traffic:
-- There will be one-way southbound traffic on Blackford between Ohio and New York Streets at some time between July 1 and August 31, but not all of it.
-- Two-way traffic will be maintained from New York to Indiana. There will certainly be times that there are short term restrictions with flaggers directing traffic. And as always, we do not control utility or other agency operations.

A public meeting will be scheduled soon to meet the contractor and other Cultural Trail construction team members to discuss specific construction issues, locations and deadlines.
