Crowds welcome new trail, Glick Peace Walk
June was an exciting month in the life of the Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene & Marilyn Glick. On June 18 at the canal, Mayor Gregory Ballard, CICF President Brian Payne and other community leaders and philanthropists led the ribbon-cutting ceremony before a crowd of neighborhood residents, trail supporters and several local media.

"Together in Peace": the making of the Glick Peace Walk
WFYI Productions presents "Together in Peace," on WFYI TV 20 in July. Photo by Mark Lee: Glick Peace Walk unveiling June 30. Click here for full story on the event.
Documentary producer Kim Jacobs follows the creation of the Glick Peace Walk, a $2 million public art installation along the Cultural Trail on Walnut St., just north of the Scottish Rite Cathedral, between Meridian St. and Capitol Ave. Designed by Indy’s own Rundell Ernstberger Associates, the 30 minute program takes viewers to the three local artists’ workshops as they work to bring alive the Glicks’ dream of honoring people of peace whose creativity, perseverance and concern for others have improved life for all. Their hope is that the Glick Peace Walk will inspire visitors to pursue their dreams and make the world a better place.

Construction update
Northeast Corridor
(from North and Alabama streets winding through Mass Ave to 10th St. and the Monon Trail)
Photo: "Prairie Modules 1 and 2" at North and Alabama streets will get a fresh coat of paint next week.
* Construction is progressing nicely along Mass Ave from College Ave to 10th St. Pavers have been installed on Bellefontaine St. Concrete will be poured, followed by asphalt and pavers through July and August. The hardscape in this area is expected to be complete in September. Landscaping will follow in October. Mass Ave. will convert back to two-way following landscaping installation.
* Landscaping has been installed on North St. and on Walnut St. from New Jersey St. to Park Ave.
* The corners at New Jersey and Walnut streets and Walnut and East streets are currently under construction.
* The Chatham Arch intersection construction will begin in July and be completed in September. The corner in front of the Metro has been excavated. Corners at Yats, Dean Johnson and Mass Appeal will follow.
* Since the Chatham Arch area is an historic district, the State Historic Preservation Office asked us to place signage in this area about its history. Click here to see the panels that will be installed in this historic intersection as well as on East and Walnut streets and at Bellefontaine and Mass Ave as visitors enter the district. Thanks to Leah Orr and the Riley Area Development Corporation for their help in writing and researching photos for this project.
